Summer Bucket List - Family Time

I am so excited that summer is upon us. My youngest daughter is still in school for a few more weeks but that's not stopping us from beginning our summer activities. Every year I plan activities for the kids and I to do fun things but this year we are joining others across the nation in the Happy Family Movement.

We are participating in the Summer Bucket List Challenge! So fun and so exciting! The first thing we did was create a bucket list of things we wanted to do this summer. Collectively we agreed to several activities that were decided upon in our family meeting. Babygirl then took on the job of creating a display for our kitchen where we could visually see what we have planned. She's pretty creative, don't you agree?

Here are the things we have planned:

  • A trip to Universal Studios to celebrate babygirl's 5th grade graduation
  • A day at the beach
  • Buy big fat ice cream sundaes
  • Have a picnic at Griffith Park
  • Visit the Cleopatra Exhibit at the California Science Center
  • Buy Slurpees
  • Train three times a week as a family for The Color Run in San Diego this fall
  • Go bowling
  • Go ice skating
  • Go to the movies
  • Have dinner on the rooftop
We've already started our 5K training and are really enjoying our time spent together.

What plans do you have with your family this summer? I'd love to know!

  1. Hey Tami!
I love your family bucket list! My husband and I are planning everything we want to accomplish this summer. And my personal list is training for the St. Louis Color Run so we will have to motivate each other with our updates. Today I did Mu first run so I'm pretty excited!

    1. Liz,

That's so great you did your first run! WOOT WOOT! We will definitely need to encourage one another along the way! How exciting. The first run is the hardest so kudos to you making it over that first hurdle!

  2. I don't know what I love more, the idea or Babygirl's creative display. What a fun idea! I have so many weddings this summer that I haven't even started thinking about fun stuff. :(

  3. Aw thanks, Helena! She is a creative little girl. You know, I have had summers like that where I'm so busy I didn't even plan in fun things but there was a time I did and we would create lists for our activities. Once we even put our ideas in a bowl and pulled ten out one at a time to do. It was fun. I am so glad to reintroduce fun into our summer family activities and this challenge was tr perfect way to get it going. It's important to actually schedule time into your life for fun with your family. Hope you find time and some fun things to do with your beautiful baby and husband.
